I recently started having problems doing my system back up. Deleted the task and created a new task and received the error that the drive could not be found.

I chose to ignor the message and try to back up my system anyway. It is in the process of doing so as I type so I do not know yet if that worked or not. It does appear to be going to the correct location.

However, the reason I was creating a new back up task is because for some reason, after a couple of hours, the system back up cancels itself out (time delay on my responding to error) saying there is not enough room (running out of space)

I am backing up to a WD external HD. There is more than 2x the amount of space (930 gb) required for my back up files. There is nothing else on this HD

My backup is approx 410 gb.

In addition, I do have the option to "delete oldest backup if not enough space" option chosen which never seemed to work even when I was doing incremental backups. Hence, the reason I have chosen to do full back ups temporarily deleting the previous one all the time.

I manually delete the old backup before starting the new back up (which makes me nervous).

Would appreciate any help I can get to resolve this issue.

The "delete oldest backup if not enough space" applies to the Acronis Secure Zone. Did you create an ASZ for your backups?

Can you post a picture of your disk management console (search "disk management" and type enter)?

You should run a chkdsk -r from an elevated command prompt on your backup disk (search for cmd.exe, when the shortcut shows up, right click on it to run as administrator)

Create another folder on your backup disk and move your last full backup to that folder. Then delete your backup task in ATI. ATI will complain it couldn't delete all files, repeat until the backup is gone or ATI crashes (it will, but no issue).
Delete the TIB files that you don't want to keep that remain, or move them to the folder you created.

As you set up your incremental backups, choose to do a new full backup after x incrementals, and choose the autocleanup option to keep only y most recent versions. ATI will then create y chains, then do a new full backup, and then delete the chain #1. So take this into account from a space perspective.
See an example attached.
