Backup ‘At system shutdown’ does not complete but is marked ‘successful’

Thread needs solution

I am running ATIH 2012 and have scheduled my backups ‘At system shutdown’ and ‘Once a day only.’ I generally use my system on a daily basis and shut it down before going to bed. Recently I’ve begun noticing that the backup ‘at system shutdown’ either does not run or does not complete. Looking at the log I see what appears to be an incomplete backup but the event is marked as ‘successful.’ Example, log entries read as follows: ‘Pending operation 150 started. Creating partition image’ followed by ‘Locking partition C’ and nothing more. Looking at the target drive for backups, there is no file for that date. Over the past week the log shows successful backups ran each day yet there was only 2 new archive files created over that same period of time.

If it were me, I would run the backup manually once to make sure you have a current backup.

Next, I would stop using the old backup task and create a new task to check if it works any better.

Running the task manually works just fine. Recreating the task is a pain. I don’t think there is a problem with the scheduler. The backup task gets launched but the process does not complete.

Clone the backup tasks. Refer my signature link #2, item GH-32 Clone tasks.
