Backup Validation Has Failed

Thread needs solution

version 2011 Home
Latest build

After an acronis full disk backup, I am receiving this error message:

Operation Has Failed
Backup Validation
Task Execution Failed

What does it mean and what should I do about it?

Thanks for your help.

There are a few possible reasons why a validation fails:
- there is a hardware problem: power/sleep interfering, connection to the disk or network, memory stick failing, ...
- there is a problem with the archive.

Run the validation again and make sure nothing will interrupt the validation somehow.

If it fails again, do a new backup and validate again.

If it still fails, run memtest86 on your computer, and run chkdsk -r on your backup disk.

I ran the validation manually from within the product. It passed with no problems. But since then, after I do a daily backup, the same error message keeps happening after the backup has completed and some time has passed. I have been having several problems with 2011 since I installed it and after I updated to the latest build. I have been using the product for many years and never had any problems before to speak of. I ran all of the tests on my computer and everything passes.

Robert,

Download the Acronis Schedule Manager and ZAP your tasks. This will remove possible remnants of tasks. http://kb.acronis.com/content/1859

If that doesn't solve it, uninstall, reboot and reinstall ATI and start new backup tasks.

Are your backups configured to run a validation after the backup finishes? If so, do you get the error if no auto-validation is specified?

Are you backing up to a local drive or a network drive?

I think configuring the backups to run validation after the backup finishes IS the problem. I have ATI Home 2012 and I configured the automatic validation at the end of backup, and now I get an error message that the archive is corrupted, even though I can open the backup up and it looks like it was successful. Like the other user mentioned, I've used Acronis for several years with no problems, and I've checked my hard drive for errors, so I think it was the automatic validation that caused the problem. I'm going to go back to manual validation.

Looks can be deceiving. Right click on "edit backup settings" and run a validation manually.
