backups

Thread needs solution

Why is it that periodically I get two full backups both on separate days when I am doing incremental backup i.e. Backup_full_b7_s1_v1 204 gigabytes, and the next day another full backup labelled Backup_full_b7_s1_v1-2 234 gigabytes, I create a full version after 4 incremental versions I store no more than 1 recent version chain.I am using True Image 2013

Something happened on the 2nd backup which caused the numbering scheme to change v1-2.

Is compression involved? or did the path or drive letter or target change or was the drive restored, or was the task configuration changed?

Check the log file for the v1-2 backup and see what happened?

Here's an example of a NEW scheme to keep your one chain on a revolving basis.

Deletion of oldest chain occurs after creation of newest full.

Thanks GroverH, my setup is exactly as you have described,no compression involved, the path or drive letter or target did not change and the drive wasn't restored, or the task configuration changed, I never change anything it just works most of the time. When it happens again I will check the log, unfortunately I have deleted the e-mail detailing the chain of events. It works perfectly 99% of the time and then the above hiccup occurs, great piece of software, Cheers Gareth

Unless you also deleted the log files, the information is still there for examination. It might provide some clues as to what is happening.
Where is the target located? network-Nas, etc?
