Backups Fail - Error: "error occurred while resolving windows library"
Hi everyone,
I'm pretty unhappy with Acronis True Image 2013 - build 6514 at the moment. I've used previous versions with much success, but I'm having real problems creating backups with 2013 - unfortunately, the ability to create backups is kind of a useful feature in a backup program!
Anytime I try to create a "file backup" I get the following error when I try to run the backup: "error occurred while resolving windows library". The error number is 0x00640320_0x00640900_0x01DC0002. See the attached error dialogue box for the more details. When I click on the "Knowledge Base" button I get a very helpful web page that says (and I paraphrase): We're sorry, but we've never heard of that error! Unlucky for you! Thanks for spending you money on our product though! We hope you recommend it to your friends!
I've tried creating various "file backups" with many different settings and I've tried writing them to different backup locations (external disks, NAS and local disk) and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
I have however been able to successfully make a "My Partitions" backup using the same software.
Has anyone else had a similar problem(s) that might be able to help me out with this niggly problem?
A bit of info on my system in case that is useful:
- Acronis True Image 2013 - build 6514
- Windows 7 Ultimate
- Corei7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
Thanks very much to anyone that might be able to give me a few pointers - it would be very much appreciated.

Often times, it is necessary for perform tests which rule specific itiems "out" and it to test to rule specific items "in",
The partitiion backup was at disk sector level so it is not the same as a file backup.
One thing you might want to troubleshoot is to check all your partitions for file errors and then I would follow up the chec for file errors with a check of all partitions for disk errors. Normally, a check for disk errrors would also fix file errors but as your are having issues, I would perform both checks.
This is just a guess on my part but it is what I would do first if I were in your situation.
Also, if you have a cleanup program such as Wise365 or Advanced System Care 6, you might consider running these utilities. I have indicated you have a full and complete current backup which must be present before you run any cleanup utility.
If still unsuccessful, I would also consider a cleanup and reinstall of TrueImageHoome.
From a command prompt
CHKDSK X: /F (Where x is the drive letter being checked and the F is to check for file errors)
CHKDSK X: /R (Where X is the drive letter being checked and the R is a check for both disk and file errors.)
Check all partitions.

Thanks GroverH. I've run a check-disk on the drive in question and still no luck.
Anything else I should try?
Is there a way for me to contact Acronis to get support for this issue as True Image is pretty useless if it can't backup?

For diagnostic purposes, boot from the ATI bootable Rescue Media and perform your desired file backup. See if that works.

I have the exact same problem after I re-arranged my libraries and created a new File Backup of my libraries. This error is not documented anywhere on Acronis's support site. Anyone else have any input on this?

After several months I have finally dumped Acronis.
I have had no help whatsoever from Acronis and the product continually fails.
I now back up on to a Synology Diskstation and use their backup system and it works fantastic.
Acronis has been the most disappointing product I have ever purchased.
