Backups just stopped and unreliable when they do work

Thread needs solution

I just noticed that no backups were happenning, so I run the tool and check the logs, empty, seems it has been off for an unknown amount of time as the logs show nothing at all, even though I know it was working a few weeks ago.
I tried to edit the schedule, it crashed. So I tried right clicking the task and choosing change schedule, nothing.

so I checked windows services and notice that the Acronis scheduler2 was disabled, WTF? Why would it disable its own scheduler.
So I re-enabled this service and now I can run the schedule again. But its really shit that this could even happen with no warning.

That aside, even when schedules are working the backup seems to be very unreliable, it actually fails most of the time and has to try again on another day, often several times before a backup completes.
I have tried Acronis True Image Home on 2 different PC's running Windows 7 and previously windows vista and XP, backing up to an external USB drive, same issue on both machines.

I am rather doubtful that Acronis will will actually be able to restore my system from these backups if it needs to considering how unreliable it has been.
Does anyone have any experience of restoring a partition after a system failure, does it actually work ?

Hello Russ,

We're really sorry for the delay with the response.

Let me assist you with the issue.

Most likely, the issue was caused by the malfunction of Acronis Scheduler, which is a component of Acronis Backup Software. To resolve it, you need to update that component:

  1. Download the latest build of Acronis Scheduler;

  2. Run the downloaded file. It will automatically update the service;

    See if the issue is resolved. If it is not, then please proceed with steps 3 and 4:

  3. Reboot the machine;
  4. Recreate the scheduled tasks.

Please reply to this thread if the issue still persists.

Thank you.
