backups wont automatically start once usb drive is connected

Thread needs solution

I just upgraded from 2011 to 2014 and like the product, but I have one major problem that I would like resolved and I have found the problem.

After creating my backup I selected the option in advanced setting under the schedule that says run when the current device is attached. In 2011 if the backup was schedule for 9am and the drive was connected till 11am, then the backup would start the very next time the drive was attached to the system. But then I started receiving messages that the backup failed and after the drive was connected the backup wouldn't automatically start. So I got to poking around and under settings>backup options>Error handling I found an option that repeat attempts if backup fails checked. I clicked the help for this option and found the following in there: This option is not available, when you back up your data to a USB flash drive or USB hard drive.

The problem I found is that my usb drive is recognized as a local drive and not a removable device. Bottom line is that I would like to have this issue fixed. It was nice to have the backup automatically restart once the drive was connected.

Grant,

True Image enumerates all drives available to Windows that are attached when it is either manually started or when a scheduled event is due to begin at Windows boot time. Depending on how the USB drive reports itself to Windows depends on whether TI recognises it if it is attached after TI has started.

The option you have chosen is designed to work the other way around, that is, the task isn't attempted if that drive is not attached at boot time or prior to TI being started.
