Bad initial experience with UI

Thread needs solution

So I set up my whole backup, entering all the settings and setting up a schedule. Then I couldn't figure out how to save my settings. There are no options for 'save settings' or 'apply settings' or anything like that. I thought: it must just keep whatever the current settings are active; after all, I did see my named backup setup in 'My backups'.

I closed the program* and checked back the next day to see if the overnight backup had worked. It hadn't. When I opened the program it was back to the default 'Entire PC'. I thought I must have missed something, like maybe I didn't click 'OK' at the right time while setting up the options. Tried it again, and still nothing was saved.

The only button I hadn't clicked was 'BACK UP NOW', so I checked that and found that that's the way to save settings. Very unintuitive. I didn't want to 'back up now', I wanted to store/apply my settings so that the scheduled backups would occur.

It was only then that I noticed that half of the 'BACK UP NOW' icon is in fact a separate button (unlabeled) that provides options for 'in 1/2/4/6 hours' and the somewhat vague 'later'. I guess that's what I want. IMO that was not discoverable enough for such an important action.

*Another thing that compounded my frustration was that the program let me quit with no warning that my settings were being thrown away. When clicking 'Create new backup' there's a Confirmation pop up "If you leave this window, the current settings will be lost ... etc." - YES/NO. The developers recognized that users wouldn't want to inadvertently lose their settings, but did not add that warning when exiting (like almost every program where something is edited). In my case I had added a large number of entries in 'Exclusions', so a nontrivial amount of work was being lost.
