Bad Password prevents Scheduled Backup Task
My scheduled task no longer does a backup of the hard drive. I get this error instead (from the log file):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
When I setup the task, I never included the account password or name. Why is even looking for that? My passwords change every 90 days...so, I have to setup a new task every 90 days? How do I fix this?

I use the method above to try to schedule a daily backup, and allow the machine to fill in the username and don't put in a password, as I don't have one, and the backup doesn't run.

Hello Tom,
Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
Probably, user account under which you are trying to schedule or run the task has limited privileges.
Make sure the user, under which you are trying to run the scheduled task, is a member of the Administrators group.
In Windows XP Home, Windows Vista Home Basic/Premium, Windows 7 Starter Home Basic/Premium there is no Local Users and Groups available. Please skip the Local Users and Groups -> Users step.
- Click Start -> Run;
- Type in compmgmt.msc and hit Enter;
- In the Computer Management window click Local Users and Groups -> Users;
- Right-click the user under which you are trying to run the task and select Properties. Click the Member Of tab. The Administrators group should be in the Member of list;
- If the user account is not a member of the Administrators group, add the account to the group:
1) On the Member Of tab, click Add;
2) In the Select Groups window type in Administrators and click Check Names;
3) Click OK.
In Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can enable the built-in Administrator account as described below and schedule the task using that account:
- Click Start, and type cmd;
- In the search results, right-click Command Prompt or cmd.exe, and select Run as administrator;
- When you are prompted by User Account Control, click Continue;
- In the command prompt, type net user administrator /active:yes, and press Enter;
- Type net user administrator [password], and press Enter
where [password] is the password you would like to set to the administrator account.
- Type exit, and then press Enter;
- Log off the current user account.
If you use Windows XP, you can create another account with Administrator rights and use its' credentials to schedule a task.

It's Windows XP Home and I'm the only user and have adminstrator rights.
It was doing a backup each day (incremental on a full backup) for 12 days, then it missed 3 days, then backuped for 3 days, but then I set up a new daily backup based on a new full backup and it has never backuped up since - it shows "Idle", then moves later to "Queued", then sits there.
This is in additoin to problems with automatic backup running berserck on another computer.

Hello Tom,
Thank you for your response.
Please download Acronis scheduler, which is a special utility to update the scheduler service.
Extract the downloaded file, run install.bat and wait for the process to be completed. The utility will automatically update the service. Reboot the computer and re-create the task. The issue should be resolved.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.

Rather than use it blindly, can you tell me exactly what this file has been designed to correct?

I assume that, when I schedule to do the task Daily on Weekdays, then it dispalys "Run the task every week, but with each weekday checked, this is just bad design - it makes the user think Daily has reverted to Weekly
