BAD_POOL_CALLER (C2) in snapman.sys 4.5.0.2231

Thread needs solution

My PC recently began crashing with MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors. I enabled the driver verifier per this article http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/blue-… to see if it would locate the culprit.

I've since experienced two BSOD. Both were BAD_POOL_CALLER errors in the Acronis snapman.sys driver.

I'm running Acronis True Image 2014 Premium, build 6673, on Win8.1.

This post https://forum.acronis.com/forum/36437 recommends removing ATI and reinstalling. Sounds like a red herring to me but I will give it a go.

Any other recommendations?

I have saved off the MEMORY.DMP files from the BSODs.

I was able to uninstall and reinstall ATI. I added my existing backups but didn't schedule the nightly jobs. I haven't had any BSODs in the two days since.

One oddity was that before removing the old version (build 6673) I used 'Check for updates' to see if there were any. It told me that I was using the latest version. But when I went to download the latest install to ensure that I had it the build number was 6688. I checked the version of snapman.sys after re-installing and its version didn't change. I also verified that snapman.sys was removed when I uninstalled the previous version.

I recreated the scheduled backups this morning. I kicked off one of them and it completed without any errors. The test will be if they run automatically for the next few days without a BSOD.
