base image

Thread needs solution

I am new to this forum and I have never used Acronis True Image. Actually, I have not used any Acronis products.

I have a question about creating a base image using True Image 2014. In Symantec Ghost, you can create a base image (Windows OS, Office and related programs) of a computer and save the base image on a server OR on a different computer.

At home, I would like to apply the same theory and create a base image of my computers and store the images on a different computer.

The purpose of creating a base image is to have an image of the computer in the event of hard drive failure or virus problems.

Using TI 2014, can I create a base image of that computer and save the image somewhere else?

I guess I am the only one to ask this question. Nobody has asked about creating an image of there hard drive? I find it hard to believe that nobody has creating an image before.

James,

That is exactly how TI is designed to work. When you set up the task you point it to another drive/partition (external/NAS/Internal, the choice is yours) TI will make the image and store it where you tell it to, from there, you can then add incremental images if you so wish or start a new task with a schedule so that you have a base image and then a another base image plus incrementals or differentials.

Note:

Make sure you click on the disk link in the task wizard so that your drive is shown by manufacturers name and drive number. If you still see all your partitions listed you need to click again.

If you decide to store the image on a NAS or Server make sure you don't use a mapped drive, use IP or UNC addressing.

Look at the online help or Grovers Guides (link in left hand margin of the forum), which are a wealth of information.
