Basic volume vs Dynamic volume

I have made several attempts to clone a 500Gb internal laptop drive to a new 1TB drive utilizing both Disc Director 11 and True Image 11 without success.

Noticed that the source drive is DYNAMIC and the target drive is BASIC. Is this of any consequence and if so which one do I convert?
