Basic workflow question

Hi All,

I have to send my laptop in for service, and want to make sure I have the correct workflow to backup, wipe, and restore my HD using Acronis Home 10.

First, I used the backup my disks utility and backed all the partitions up (local disk, RECOVERY, and HP TOOLS) to an external drive. Correct?

Then, once I have a backup, I wipe my drive and reinstall my OS. How is this done? The laptop runs Windows 7 home.

Once I get the drive back, when I restore my disks using the restore partitions utility, will it overwrite my OS and completely restore my drive?

Thanks, not really familiar with this sort of stuff, so help is much appreciated.
