best SSD recovery option?

Thread needs solution

Hello, I currently have Acronis True Image Home 2010 and windows vista home premium 64-bit

I have a 100GB OCZ Vertex 2 solid state drive being used for the OS and programs and a 1TB hard drive for all of my files which I sectioned off 100GB for use as back up space for the SSD. I have created a full disk back up (sector by sector and unallocated space) and saved it to that partition.

Later I discovered that only after a few weeks my SSD's write speeds have degraded considerably and I wanted to be able to wipe the drive clean and reinstall the OS/programs as they are now.

My question is what is the best back up method to do this so that the alignment of the SSD is preserved and the state of the drive can be full restored after a reformat? I understand that the software is incapable of 'cloning' to a partiton destination, i.e. the 100GB partition on the 1TB drive so if that is the best option I suppose I would have to purchase a third smaller hard drive to have as a clone back up location....

The second part of the question would be once the back has been made and the backed up SSD has been reformatted, would I just use the rescue disk to restore the drive or boot into the clone and restore from there? I haven't had to go through the process yet and do not know what to expect...

I'm sorry if these are questions that have been answered before, I just couldn't find them. Thanks for the help.
