Blue Screen of Death after installing TI 2015

Thread needs solution

Trying to update Acronis TI 2012 to TI 2015. The install works fine, activation presents no problems and the app opens without incident following completion of the install. However, once I reboot the system, I get the dreaded BSOD with the following error code 0x0000007E,(0xFFFFFFFFC000000005,0X0000000000000000,0XFFFFF88003B76DF8,0XFFFFF88003B76650). BSOD provide no information as to the file causing the problem. I can replicate the problem with ease. I'm currently running Window 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 with 24GB of Memory installed. Plenty of hard disk space available and utilities show no hard disk problem.
After checking a full suggestions, I attempted to uninstall TI2012 and then installing TI2015 as a clean install. Again, the program appeared to install correctly only difference being I had to enter the serial number for my previous product as well as that on TI2015. And once again, once the system rebooted the dreadful BSOD. Only this time I'm totally screwed as the restore points I had been creating prior to installing TI2015 seem to have disappeared. If the restores points were deleted as a result of uninstalling TI2012 it would be nice for Acronis to provide a warning that this would occur. Disk and memory checks show no hardware issues. I'm convinced this has to be an issue with TI2015. Anyone with any suggestions? BTW startup repair was totally useless as it reported no problems could be detected.

Your BSOD error 0x0000007e is a hard stop error that can be caused by a good number of things such as a corrupt driver file, hardware malfunction or defect, malware, etc.. The BSOD screen should indicate what file caused the error so I would suggest that you narrow that down first then Google how to repair problems with that particular file problem as procedures will vary.

You would think that to be the case but no information is given. I tried uninstalling TI 2012 and then performing the install on TI2015 and now my problems are worse. See my edited post.

I am having same problem. Notebook running Win7 64 pro and no problems. Update TI to 2015 and system runs ok, creates and validates backup, no problems. Then any reboot and boom, BSOD and before you ask what file, etc, the bsod never stays up long enough to grab it. Do system restore to just prior to TI 2015 and all is good.

I have repeated this now 5 times. Enough is enough. Have also tried to get support but never able to get past the entry of the error number and therefor unable to submit for help that way.

Not very happy, as I purchased new TI-2015 for all of my machines... And my main travel work-notebook does this..

Any useful help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

If the previously installed TI version did not or was not uninstalled correctly then the use of the cleanup utility may resolve the problem. See link

Too late. Wound up doing a new install on a clean hard drive. Acronis needs to clean up their act before releasing new versions.

Hi,

Just a current suggestion (9-25-2015). I ran into Acronis blocking me from launching my Windows 7 application. The hated blue screen. I tried everything, but I didn't know if I'd ever get into my documents and programs again.

I tried a number of variations without success and then seemed to run into a totally unexpected way to launch my Windows program.

Here it is with hopes it might work for others and bring a bit of joy back to their lives. Still no guarantee, I just stumbled upon it.

As soon as you start your computer, do the good old trick of immediately tapping on the F12 key. You should then come to a window asking you to "Please select boot device."  I had a special Acronis disk in a drive that had been quite helpful to me in the past. Acronis All Vol II - Disk Director Boot CD.

Don't write it down, it launched, but still was still not able to get me into my application.

Having nothing better to do, I tried launching the 2nd item in the list, still no luck.

The next time, I just decided, "What the hell" and tried a totally unknown 3rd choice. It was named HDD: P2-ST31000524AS.

Well, guys it worked! Went into a Windows start up process and after a bit recovered my entire computer setup with all icons, programs and such just as I had left them.

Do understand if I decide to restart my computer I return back to the same blue screen. But God bless the F12, I can recover my computer again the same way as I did the first time.

So normally I plan to keep the computer on until I can rescue everything to backup media. Then I'll install a new system (maybe) Or more probably just buy a new computer since the one I have is old enough to be out of warranty.

Hope this may help some of you at least. This Acronis thing is really a bitch. I'd try every launchable item in the list, even if it doesn't have the same name. I don't thing you have much to lose.  Good luck.   Barry
