Back up does not happen when I select 'Proceed' at the end of the Summary step. Instead the 'Tasks and event log' comes up. The back up is listed and shown as 'Idle 12:00:00 AM'. If I right click on this and select 'Start' nothing happens. I have previously successfully used the program. It is the Home 2009 edition. I am wondering whether to uninstall Acronis and then re-install it.

On the summary screen, be sure the option is checked on lower left to perform backup now.

No need to un-install but if you want a fresh install, restart the TI install program and after the re-install begins,you will be offered an option to do a repair which is what you want to do.

Thank you, thank you GroverH. It worked. I restarted the install program and selected 'repair'. And when I later did backups they all worked.
Using a forum is still an uneasy experience for me. I am only an average confidence computer user as shown by how it took me until 1 Dec to give your idea a go. This was the third time, over a period of three years, I have gone to a forum for help. They have all had positive outcomes for me so with time I should become less nervous at tackling something new on the computer. Thank you again for rescuing me. Bob Grasby
