It sounds like you performed your clone while within windows. TI rewrites the bootloader in this situation to reboot into linux. This is fraught with problems and it is recommended that you boot from the rescue media to perfom the clone.

Johnny, welcome to these user forums.

You have posted to the ATIH 2015 Forum but what actual version & build of Acronis True Image do you have, is it a full version or an OEM one provided with the purchase of a new disk drive?

Cloning should always be performed using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media, and not from within Windows, even though the Acronis application will allow you to do so.

Please see webpage: Check if your PC uses UEFI or BIOS to determine how your Windows OS boots - you must boot the Acronis rescue media in the same mode, i.e. if Windows uses the EFI boot manager, then you must do the same for the rescue media.

See KB documents: 48386: Acronis True Image 2015: Cloning Disks  and  1540: Difference between Backup and Disk Clone for more information on how to perform cloning and caveats that should be satisfied before doing so.  You can also use Backup & Restore to achieve the same result as cloning.  It is always recommended that a full disk backup be made Before attempting to make a clone.

Thank you, I have done many clones and this is a first. Where do I get the rescue media and can it be used from usb stick? my bios is UEFI.

Can the clone be done on another machine with source and destination drives be connected via usb?

Johnny, if you have a registered Acronis account then you can download an ISO (CD image file) of the Rescue media from your account.  If you are using an OEM version of ATIH, then you would need to create the rescue media from within the Acronis GUI using the Rescue media builder application - if you have plugged in a USB stick, then this can be used for the media, otherwise you can create on a CD or DVD.

You can try doing the clone on another machine with both drives attached, but please ensure that you select the correct drives for source and target.  I would still recommend having a full disk backup of the source drive as well.
