Boot Disk Does not recognize keyboard or mouse
I'm not very impressed. I'm trying to install a SSD drive. I tried to backup using Windows Backup but I can't get Acronis out of Control panel so at the moment Acronis is blocking my accees to Windows 7 Backup.
I have created an Acronis Boot disk but when it boots up it defaults to Windows and I can't select the True Image option because nothing I do with either my mouse or my keyboard has any impact (both USB).

James,
For some reason that is not obvious to me Acronis recognized my mouse and key when I connected them via the old green and purple mouse/keyboard connectors.
Sadly the restore failed for reasons that are not obvious to me.
I have attempted to run the solution to stop Acronis assuming control of my Control Panel backup/restore options but it gave me an error. So at the moment I have acronis behaving like a VIRUS and I can't restore.
I have used the product for several years. This is the first time that I have needed to restore. I am not impressed.

In some cases, you would need to change the permissions of the registry key that the resource.dll solution is trying to update.
Open the registry editor and naviagate to:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B98A2BEA-7D42-4558-8BD1-832F41BAC6FD}\Instance\InitPropertyBag]
Take ownership of the key by following these steps:
1. Right click on the "InitPropertyBag" key name, and select "permissions".
2. Click on the "advanced" button.
3. Select the "owner tab".
4. Change the current "Owner" to your user account, click "Apply"
5. Click on the "Permissions" tab.
6. Click "Add"
5. In the box that allows you to enter a user or group name, enter your user name and click "check names" then click "Ok"
(You can also browse to find your user name by selecting "Advanced" and then "Find Now" and scrolling through the list and selecting your user name and clicking "Ok".)
6. Give yourself "Full" permissions by clicking on the "Full" box, then click "Ok" as many times as needed to exit the permissions pages.
7. While still in the Registry Editor, click "File" then "Import" and browse to the "ResourceDLL.reg" file that you extracted from the ResourceDll.zip file and click "Open".
8. Close the Registry Editior.
This should sucessfully correct the Windows Backup and Restore issue on your system.
