Bootable media

Thread needs solution

Am attempting to clone my internal HD to an external HD. The option for the destination:
'make disk bootable' is greyed out and can not be selected. Ideas of what the problem
is or what I can do to rectify ? ?
Thanks
Gary

Hello Gary,

Thank you for finding time to join us and report about the issue. I understand your concern, and will be glad to help you.

According to the record in your account, you're using the trail version of Acronis True Image Home 2011. I regret to inform you that Clone functionaloty is not present in the trial version of Acronis software. In order to clone the drive you need to obtain the full version.

You can find the trial limitations here.

As a workaround you can backup the source drive and restore it to the target one. We advise this method even for those who has full versions as the result will be the same, but you will also have a valid image of your hard drive, which can be restored in case of HDD failure. You can find the instructions in this User Guide.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Gary,

I guess that when you say your are cloning you are actually trying to make an image backup, right?

The Make bootable option is activated when you are using removable media like USB flash disk, DVD. It doesn't work for USB disks, even if they are formatted FAT32.
