Bootable media (Linux) validation fails
I backup using (Linux) bootable media - TI2015 (6525). Last successful backup 12/12/14 of boot partition (XP Pro + SP3) - never a problem up to that date. Full partition backups, with validation, split into 1.4GB files. I've done it this way for years.
Backed up yesterday. Wrote backup OK (23 files), but validation failed. Chkdsk'd both src (250GB SSD) and dest (360GB USB) disks - no errors. That backup then DID validate using the Windows installed TI2015. Did it all again, same result. Backed up again using an old TI2013 bootable media - also failed. Did it again using older TI2012 bootable media - this one passed.
No hardware or software has changed on the PC since last good backup on 12/12/2014. PC is working fine.
What is going on, why are these TI2015 backups suddenly failing to validate, and why do they validate OK when checked with Windows installed TI2015? The only significant thing that has changed is the date from 2014 to 2015.
The error log says nothing useful other than it could not read the backup file.
I also notice the 2015 Windows installed validation is a very quick validation - 5-10 secs - and there is no way it can really validate all of a 30GB backup in that time. So - not sure I trust it.
