Bootable Recovery Disc?
Hi,
Purchase Acronis 10 a couple of years back, never used it. Recently upgrade to 2010 version now planning to use it. I just got a brand new laptop that came with a functionality to create a recovery disc, which i've done do.
Now I wipe out the laptop, install Windows 7 fresh clean install. Reinstall all of the drivers. Installed Microsoft Office and other apps.
How to I make a bootable recovery disc in the event of HDD failure or HDD replacement? Is it possible to create a disc where I can stick in, acronis runs and restore my laptop?
I saw you can do backup, but that requires me to install windows, install acronis, and then restore..too much effort.
Thanks,

Hello Kevin and DwnNDrty!
Kevin, welcome to Acronis Forum and thank you for openind the thread!
Many thanks to DwnNDrty for his reasonable comment! I just wanted to add that there is actually no need in installing OS, then installing Acronis and then creating Acronis Bootable Media. You can create the CD by burning the ISO image, which can be downloaded exactly from your account.
This image is a full working copy of the boot disc for Acronis True Image. After you create a boot disc from the downloaded file, please check its functionality and inform us if there are any problems.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!

Yana:
Your recommendation directly contradicts the advice given in Acronis KB article 8134 here: http://forum.acronis.com/content/8134
To quote the article, "(!) It is strongly recommended to resort to ISOLINUX Bootable Media only if Acronis Loader Bootable Media does not work."
The downloaded ISO image version of the bootable media is not the same as the version you can create from the program, as the KB article points out, and can lead to problems on certain systems with nonstandard disk geometry which include PCs made by Compaq, Lenovo, and others.
