bootable rescue disk cannot find wireless external hdd

Running TI 2013 Win 7
the Bootable Rescue CD does not recognise the External Wireless HDD running via the router.
Is there a way to allow this HDD to be shown in Browse after loading.
I have made a temp workaround by creating a system image on another USB external HDD which the Rescue cd does recognise, after restoring this backup and having an operating system and can see the wireless router, I can then force another system image recovery from the wireless external HDD, so it does work after a fashion.
Is there a way to save doing the job twice.
Any help would be appreciated.
