I have built a boot Acronis USB. I want to image the hard drive but when I boot with the external drive attached, the computer fails to find a boot image and boots from the hard drive.

If I remove the imaging disk from the USB and boot from the Acronis USB (no problem with that), Acronis will not image drive C to the external USB disk because it does not find the disk if it is attached to the USB after booting.

Help.

Have you tried connecting the external drive just after you've selected to boot to TI?

How long did you wait for the USB drive to show up in TI after it was connected? On some systems, it can take a little bit.

When both drives are connected at boot-up, you may need to check that the Acronis USB drive is still set as the booting drive in the BIOS. Some keep different lists depending on which drives are connected.
