Booting clone from USB unsuccessful

Thread needs solution

Hi all, using True Image 0713 that came with my crucial SSD. Running Win7 on a Dell Latitude. I successfully cloned my disk from SSD to standard HDD that was connected through interface by USB. Just for fun I tried to boot the system from that HDD while it was connected via USB - windows started to boot....then a quick blue screen of death before it crashed, then the system booted from the internal SSD. Is that expected? I didn't want to have to actually install the HDD into the machine to see if I had a successful backup....

Any thoughts would be appreciated

FrankImage, welcome to these User Forums.

This is correct behaviour as Microsoft will not allow Windows 7 (or other versions) to be booted from a removable USB disk drive unless you have purchased their Windows To Go product for this purpose.
