BOOTMGR IS MISSING

Thread needs solution

Dear colleague,
I have made a back up of the two partitons of my hard drive (C and D) in my laptop by using Acronis true image 2000-2009. In C I had windows XP and in D Windows 7. After restoring the two partions I can´t boot my laptop since this message comes up: "Bootmgr is missing".
Could you pleae give me an idea about this and how to fix it up?.

Thanks in advance.

Carlos

When you did the backup, are you sure you included all partitions on your disks? Maybe there was a hidden system reserved partition?
When you restored, did you restore every partition including the MBR+Track0?

The way to fix up your computer at this point is to:
- boot on the Win7 installation CD,
- choose repair computer startup.

Is the correct partition set Active? It's likely that the XP partition is the boot partition. If so, it should be Active.
