"bootmgr missing" after cloning a windows 7 boot drive to a new SSD
Hi,
i am having some trouble after cloning my oold boot drive to a new SSD, The clone process completes without problems. once it is completed I have rebooted the machine and changed the bios boot order to make the machine boot from the new SSD (Intel X-25). However the machine does noot boot and simply spews out the BootMGR is missing message.
If I change the boot order back so the old drive is to boot first then everything works and I can see the SSD and all the data is there.
The source drive only has one partition on it btw.
I didd try to use the rescue option from the windows 7 CD but it still will not boot.
Any ideas guys?

I am using the full version of TIH 2010 with the pluss pack. I have tried creating the clone from the bootable CD and from windows (requires reboot of course).
I have also tried messing around with the ahci config in the computers BIOS (The motherboard is a Gigabyte DS3 running an intel Quad core CPU (Q6700), 4 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon graphics card), but to no avail.
Windows sees the SSD fine, but will not boot from it.
I am beginning to think this might be related to a BIOS problem related to handling the SSD any thoughts?

I encountered the same issue trying to clone a machine I had with Win 7 64-bit on a Dell 128 G SSD. Booting gave the bootmgr error. The repair from the Win 7 64-bit CD did not work. I ended up reinstalling the machine as reimaging all 3 partitions did not fix it. I know in the restore menu you can select making the OS partition active, which I wondered if the boot files were on the first of the 3 partitions. Else it is an Acronis issue.

out of interest did your cloning also include the 100MB windows partition?

I did eventually get it working by unplugging all the other disks and letting the system boot from the SSD. once that completed I could reattach the other drives and now everything works.
Yes I did remember to clone the 100 MB windows partition as well.
