BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Derl to restart after recovering from full backup

Thread needs solution

After restoring Win 7 Full Backup image (Recovery) to new computer when I reboot the new computer I get BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Derl to restart. How do I fix the MBR on the new drive image?

Did you create a full disk Backup, selecting the entire disk via checkbox rather than selecting partitions? I suspect that you didn't, and that is the preferred method to capture everything including hidden partitions that may contain boot files, and MBR.

Or, did you create such a backup, but restore only certain partitions?

I also have same bootmgr missing using ATI 2010.  Upgraded to Windows 10 64-bit last Dec. Made a full backup prior to the update.  January purchased some video editing software and after the install did a full backup.  The whole of January was doing only fullback ups after new programs were installed.  Then about a week ago, I decided to restore a full backup and that's where my problem started-bootMgr missing.  Attempted 2-3 restores then did the same thing.  My restores includes the mbr and track.

Researched and found that some new things about mbr and gpt, but I haven't changed any setting on the motherboard BIOS and boot menu looks fine but there are sometimes the same device has EFI.  So not hardware savy with this BIOS stuff.  I never did select and EFI device from the boot menu.

Used gparted to look at the partition and shows MBR on left hand side.  Ran diskpart and clean my C drive, loaded up  ATI boot disc selected a backup, restore successful, but then booting up got the same missing bootmgr missing.

Appreciate any help that can resolve my problem.

Georgiejr,

ATIH 2010 is not certified or compatible with Windows 10.

Options:

Restore previous OS - One that is compatible with ATIH 2010

Attempt to rebuild the missing or damaged bootmgr

Install W10 from scratch

Following this, use Acronis 2015 or 2016 which supports W10 OS.
