bootup error

Thread needs solution

I used ati 8.1 to clone a hard drive. So on bootup I get a message about kernal not found press to continue. I do that and nothing. I can use windows repair disk and get into windows. When I restart computer same thing. So I installed windows 7. Deleted partition and create new one and instaled windows 7. Same problem. I have to have the windws disc in and do a repair everytime I try to start wndows. I did not install secure zone. If I deleted and formated hard drive why am I still getting this message? How do I get rid of it? I am at work using my phone so I am not sure of the exact error message

What was the windows system on which you used ATI 8? I don't think ATI 8 supports Vista much less W7 and should be used with anything later than XP.

I'd use a much later version (maybe ati2010) to make a backup of the original disk and then restore that the new disk.
