Bought Acronis 2015

Acronis had a great price on the Acronis 2015 this week. Buy one copy (or upgrade) and get a 2nd license free.

I have Acronis True Image 2013 which worked fine out the box. But I have since bought a little Windows Tablet (Micro Center's house brand, Winbook TW100) and thought 2 copies would be handy.

Well, not so! My attempts at creating RESCUE MEDIA on a USB flash drive failed to work. Oh, I created the media, but my computer would not boot to it. Unlike the 2013 version where everything worked just fine! This is my main computer so very disappointing, especially when version 2013 worked flawlessly right out of the box.

What is up with the discontinuation of some features: https://kb.acronis.com/ati2015/discontinued I assume this means if I don't want to loose all of these things, STICK WITH A PREVIOUS VERSION?

Now to my Winbook TW100. Sorry - I am not a professional. I am just some guy who has a lot of stuff on a computer who is trying to protect it.

Anyway, my Winbook TW100 apparently isn't supported? (THE WHOLE REASON I WANTED TO UPGRADE). It has some type of 32 BIT UEFI boot system and the standard boot media creation program won't create something bootable? I tried USB FLASH; USB DVD; etc. With these tablets you start out with limitations to begin with i.e. small amount of internal memory, etc. I added a 128gb SDXC micro memory card and it works great for allowing me to install new software, etc. but I want to be able to back it up. Yes, I read all kinds of articles and comments for those of you much more savvy then me - but anything I tried didn't work either. And to tell the truth, I shouldn't have to tweak anything too much to get it to work.

By the way, the 2013 version doesn't work either for me on my TW100.

What kills me is I can download a competitor's FREE version of their program that does about 90% of what I want it to do on my Winbook Tablet and 100% of what I want it to do on my desktop. What is the one thing their program won't do? It will not backup removal memory like my 128gb SDXC micro memory card. But it will backup the eMMC drive and it will create a bootable USB Rescue Drive THAT HAS WORKED flawlessly on my desktop and my Windows Tablet, i.e. Winbook TW100. If I buy their licensed version, it still will not backup removal memory when I do a backup of my C: drive, but you can SEPARATELY back up folders in the same format. It is just a 2 step process.

So no perfect product that I have found, but definitely I have found something better then Acronis True Image 2015.

I love Acronis. I have used their products for years. Just like Windows, you dread when a new version comes out and find things missing you loved in an older version, or sometimes you find things JUST DON'T WORK!

I can't imagine I won't come back to Acronis. Can you say Acronis True Image 2016. You know, the version that includes all the changes we are asking for in the FORUM to get 2015 to work right!
