I had the same issue with the upgrade to 2010 date limit (I missed by less than two weeks) and sent a message via the Acronis web site to customer support. To date I have received only the following response (pasted below). Of course, this being the Christmas season, I'm not too surprised with the delay. Based on some of the comments in this forum, I suspect that I'll be granted the free upgrade.

I had the same experience. Acronis offered a substantial rebate via NewEgg in late July and I think thru early August for TIH 2009. The rebate purchase period ended a little over 30 days before the 2010 release date of Sept 15. I had a hunch this was not coincidental. When I later saw on the Acronis site that 2009 wouldn't support Win7 and about the 30-day update policy, I decided to raise with Support the legal term for what had occurred. After a couple of back and forths, they were nice enough to provide a key code for the 2010 version.
I'm missing how selling upgrade protection gets around the legal issues posed by last summer's end-of-product-cycle rebate sale.
OTOH, someone elsewhere posted that TIH 2009 actually does work with Win7 (I haven't installed the latter yet).

Hello genegold,
Let me comment this situation.
Yes, this situation is possible. You can find some rebate on third part web site (such as New Egg, which is autorised reseller of Acronis products), and price can be cheaper there. The cause is that we do not control seller's price policy. But please make sure that you're dealing with authorized seller before bying the product (you may ask us for particular store if you are not sure).
Regarding the free upgrade, we're offering 30 days upgrade policy, as it was correctly stated before.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.
Thank you.

The issue was resolved with Acronis months ago, as I indicated.
While you may or may not control authorized reseller prices, the rebate was yours, Acronis's. The willful bait-and-switch behind it was the issue.

Hi,
looks like i have a similar situation here. I bought TIH 2009 on July, 22 2009 directly from the website.
As i understand TIH 2009 does not supporting Win7, does it? As i read on the website I need TIH2010 for fully windows 7 support? Too bad, cause it seems i am not aligable for a free upgrade just because of 1 week. Is it just "bad luck" for 1 week?
Cheers,
Matthias

My solution was to email customer service and pose the problem, that you acted in good faith and feel you got taken, since they knew at the time you purchased that a new Win7 compatible version was being released Sept 15 and they should have alerted purchasers about it. Doing that led to a 2010 key for me.

TI2009 will install on W7, and apparently in the last version to be released (November 2009) mounting works.
Possibly the only thing that might be a problem is if your W7 install is a completely clean one, that is not on a prepartitioned drive. Whether 2009 has a problem in restoring the different sector offset to that of XP and many Vista partitions I don't know, though I suspect that as it hasn't been a problem in Vista, it should be OK with W7.
