Build 6514 Clearing meta database back up history
Windows 7 Pro 32 bit OS.
I have full back-ups (that's all I do right now) on two different USB external hard drives, that are powered off most of the time. I've encountered this problem before in another post with trial software, and again after I replaced the trial version with a clean install of 6514. I've PROPERLY deleted the whole back ups in the Acronis window, and subsequently used Windows to delete the remaining empty folders. But from time to time the Acronis software replaces the empty folders that I deleted. Additionally, after complications with replacing an HDD that turned out to be in the IDE mode, with an SSD that works better in the AHCI mode, I made a number of full back-ups. After all was said and done, I decided to change the name of some of those back-up folders. Understand that that would cause problems, so I uninstalled and re-installed Acronis 6514 after making all of the name changes. But in essence, I don't want or need the Acronis feature that maintains a history of all of those folders, even after you clear everything from the list. I would like to totally stop that history function, but don't think it's possible. I'm guessing it's not a good idea to delete the (dll?) file that stores the history information. I read that some people tried that and had trouble. Makes sense. But what if I tried this? I keep a virgin copy of that file from a clean install, and from time to time, replace the one keeping the history with the virgin file? Would that work? If yes, does anyone know which file keeps the history and where it's located? Or is there a way to stop Acronis tracking the history?
Thanks.
