Build 6574 Shows wrong Version, and other related issues

Thread needs solution

I upgraded from build 5519 to build 6574. Had to Activate with product keys (known bug). Check for updates now says I am running the latest version.

However, if you do Help --> About, it reports Acronis True Image Home as build 5519. Also, if you build a rescue media, it indicates it's building a version 5519 rescue media.

A separate issue entirely.... I downloaded the rescue media .iso file for build 6574 and burned it to CD. The CD boots fine to the main screen, but the system crashes when loading the Acronis (Full Version) application from CD. If I create the Rescue Boot Media from the Tools section of program, the created CD behaves the same way... crashes when loading the app.

Any Ideas what's going on? A non-workable rescue boot disk renders my disaster recovery capabilities useless. :(

James,

Some one else has reported that the CD version still reports itself as 5519, though the files really are 6574.

As far as the Windows based version still showing the old build number, that shows something hasn't been updated in registry or possibly your system.

Run the TI installer again and select the repair option and see what happens after the repair has finished.

When you say the system crashes when using the rescue CD, exactly what happens - it freezes, you see the Acronis Loading on the top left of screen and it hamgs there?

Do you have any card readers or graphics pads attached to your PC?

If you haven't already, download the SAFE media from your account, install and reburn the CD, see if you get any further by selecting SAFE when you boot using the CD.

I allowed the latest update to install. As reported here, it asks for re-activation. When I use the activation button I get a blue screen of death. I forgot to write down the exact details, bit the ulsata.sys diver was mentioned. Anybody has seen this?

Colin...
The first thing I did when I noticed the issue was to execute the downloaded 6574 update file and perform a "repair" on my installation. It was at that point (afterwards) that the program needed to be reactivated with license keys. BTW - if I go into Win7's Programs and Features list, Acronis True Image Home 2011 is listed with version number 14.0.6574

As far as the bootable rescue media - I have built the rescue media both ways: a) using the tools option from within TI and b) by downloading the 6574 rescue ISO file and burning it. The symptoms are the same. I boot the CD and it brings up the selection menu screen OK (sometimes the mouse works, sometimes not). If I launch the TI application, it begins loading from the CD (screen goes black during this process and the Acronis Loading message DOES NOT appear in the upper left), then after about 20 seconds, the system simply reboots itself (bios level as if I had power-cycled).

I do have a USB card reader attached that handles various forms of flash media.

Thanks.

James,

The SAFE mode download is not the same as the ISO, you'll find it on the plugins tab.

Try detaching the card reader for the standard or ISO version of the CD as it is a known problem that the Linux kernel used by Acronis has problems detecting them, which can cause the symptons you describe.

I upgraded, too. And my version number 6574 is correct (under help/about).

Sounds like 6574 need some work. :(

Thanks Colin... I disconnected my USB card reader and tried booting the recovery CD. Still no luck.

I downloaded and burned the 5519 Recovery Boot ISO. It also does not load the Acronis Full Version program.
I tried booting my Acronis 2010 recovery boot CD and it still works fine with all my devices connected. Hopefully Acronis will resolve this issue. Otherwise I'll have to punt on 2011 and go back to the 2010 version. I'm sorry I didn't catch this issue before implementing the 2011 backups.
