Buying an older version of Acronis TI

Thread needs solution

Does anyone know if there is a way to still purchase a TI2010 license key? I have had technical issues with TI2011 and would prefer to buy TI2010. Thanks for your responses.

John:

There are some copies of TI Home 2010 available on amazon.com

Do you know if it would be able to be registered online...it would be a legal license that would allow a download of a bootable media online (as I've heard they may have later drivers online).
Thanks,
Phil

Phil:

Yes, provided that you have purchased a legitimate copy of the software from a retailer you should be able to register the S/N online. Once registered you can download the latest build of the registered product, as well as the bootable media. You will then qualify for a discount if you decide to upgrade to a newer version in the future.

Hi Mark:
Well, I bought Acronis True Image 2010 & now realize that I bought the wrong thing. I wanted to have the same GUI as TI8 & TI9. Is there a TI 10 that's different than TI 2010?
Thanks in advance,
Phil

Yes, ATI10 was followed by ATI11, then ATI 2009, ATI2010, and lastly ATI2011.

ATI11 is the last to have essentialy the same GUI as ATI 9 or 10. Some cometic changes mostly. With ATI2009, the way the program works is somewhat diff It was the first verson to use an internal database instead of Backup Locations. And that really chagnes with the later releases releases.

ATI10 is one of my favorites iterations of the product and I still use it on a handful of machines.

Phil:

Yes; in fact TI version 10 was the best version released, IMHO. The releases went like this:

TI 8, TI 9, TI 10, TI 11, TI 2009, TI 2010, TI 2011.

I've used 9, 10, and 2011. Version 10 was the high-water mark. Version 2011 isn't as bad as you'd think from reading some of the comments on the forum, but its user interface is very different from previous versions. A lot of people seem to have liked version 2010 better than version 2011, from what I've read on the forum here.

You may be able to find version 10 on amazon.com or eBay, but be aware that it isn't smart enough to automatically fix the Vista or Windows 7 BCD like the newer versions, nor does it understand the newer Linux file systems. If you're running WinXP though you'll be fine.

Thank you Mark & Scott for the information & also for your time. I greatly appreciate the dedication that you guys have.
