Buying TI 2013 - What will happen when TI 2014 arrives?
If I buy True Image 2013 now, will I get a discount or free update to TI 2014 when it arrives in the next month(s)? Of should I wait for 2014 to arrive?

Acronis usually announces some sort of policy and perhaps a deal, closer to time of release. I haven't heard as yet. Currently 2014 is in beta test.

Once you have purchased and registered ATI you can expect to receive discounted upgrade offers by email from time to time. It's up to you to decide when or if you want to accept any of these offers. I still regularly receive such offers on 2013 even though I've bought it on previous offers on two occasions already. One thing you can be sure of though - it won't be free.

Why would it be? I don't expect new versions of software to be free.

This was the OP's question. Seems he was thinking it might be free

As I wrote, Acronis typically announces a policy/deal closer to the time of release of the new version. IIRC, it could be something such as that purchasers buying 2013 after a certain date will receive free upgrade to 2014 upon release.

Sorry, you don't remember correctly. I've been upgrading Acronis for donkey's years and have never, ever received an offer of a free upgrade to the next version. Now drop it!

The free upgrade isn't for existing users, many of whom bought the last version a year earlier. It's only for new purchasers buying the existing version shortly before the new versions is released.

Excuse me? You don't make the rules here.

You're the one who ordered me to stop discussing something, not the other way around. You have no authority to tell an MVP to cease discussing something.

You start off by quite unnecessarily quoting me and asking why would anyone expect it be free, and then go on to state that Acronis do sometimes offer it free. And because you are an MVP you don't expect that nonsense to be questioned? There's this rule that says when you are in a hole it's best to stop digging.

Again, I clearly said that "free" was in very specific circumstances and actually part of the purchase deal, not a general free upgrade for all users of previous version. This is a common business practice with many software vendors when a new version is imminent.
Ordering an MVP not to discuss something. especially when it's not even your topic, beggars belief.

Given that 2014 may be released soon, as it was recently in beta test, you might as well wait. At that point you could download the trial to try it on your own system. The most important thing to test is that the Rescue Media supports your hardware.

If past practice is followed, you may have a 30 day (not 31 or more) window for a free upgrade if old version purchased within 30 days of new release. The 30 days limit has been enforced and 31 or 32, etc has not qualified in the past.
Here is the 2013 free upgrade policy. 2014 may be the same or may differ--your guess.

You are entitled to receive a free upgrade to True Image 2013 by Acronis if you purchased Acronis True Image Home 2012 from an official or authorized store between 30 days before the release. Otherwise you can purchase an upgrade at a price substantially smaller than the full one

Thanks for that link, Grover. I was sure there had been a time-limited free upgrade in advance of past releases, but I couldn't recall the duration.
