Bye bye Acronis

Thread needs solution

No apparent backup problems for ages. Went to look at the backups via Explorer, to find that the 4 weeks I had, consisted of the last week, and then three weeks from September last year.

Decided to check out Macrium, so did a trial backup, which went fine.

Major problem today on the machine, and had to do a recovery. It finished in 20 seconds, and destroyed my boot drive.

SO, I though - OK, boring, will re-install Windows (7 x64), and recover from the recent good backups.

Restored Windows, went to recover, decided to mount an image first to check it out.

Empty.

Great.

Bought Macrium, and recovered. Have lost a weeks stuff, but most of the data I really want to keep is on other drives.

That's it for me and Acronis. When they did free support, I found it terrible, and now they want to charge me for support for a package I paid good money for and doesn't work.

Cheers. And be careful. You too could lose your boot drive, and have no idea that all those log files reporting success were garbage.

Had also done System State backups. No evidence of them at all wne running the Recovery disc.

Fraud, I'd call it.
