Can I achieve unattended maintenance window using TI Home?

Thread needs solution

I am considering upgrading from TrueImage 10 Home to TrueImage 2010 Home and hope someone (maybe from Acronis?) might provide some information to help me decide if this is the right route.

My basic requirement not met by TI10 Home is the ability for it to work within an automated, unattended maintenance window. During this window, I would like my Windows XP home desktop machine to power on, complete various admin tasks (like defrag, windows updates and backup+verify), log+email the status of the activities then shutdown.

I have automated the startup schedule (using wake-on LAN via cron from my always-on NAS box), shutdown and other batch scripting, but adding TI10 into this causes problems:

1. If I schedule the activities using windows scheduler and run TI10 from a batch script, then TI10 does not send email notifications - which it does if TI controls the schedule.

2. If I schedule the activities using TI10 and use pre/post commands to trigger the other batch scripts, I have other problems. The scheduled tasks do not seem to run in a reliable order - so sometimes my 'dummy' backup job with a 'shutdown' post-command will run first - so the backups do not complete. I don't run the 'shutdown' as a post-command on a 'real' backup because the post-command executes before the backup verification, and I want the backup verification to complete before shutdown. On other occasions I have noticed that the scripts sometimes fail in 'real' use when they work fine using the 'test' facility. A failed pre/post command does not seem to be reflected in the overall job status - so I can get an email telling me that everything has run fine, then come home from work to find the machine still powered on because the shutdown command has not executed.

Has anyone had success doing what I want to do using TI2010? For example, getting email notifications to work when calling TI from a batch script - or getting pre/post commands to work reliably in order?

Could someone from Acronis confirm whether/how my requirement could be met with TrueImage 2010 Home? If this is not possible, does anyone have other suggestions?
