Can I clone a Raid?

Thread needs solution

Hello.

We would like to replace the hard disks in a Dell 1500 workstation with 2 larger capacity hard disks. These disks are configured, presently, in a Raid 0 with Intel's SATA Raid Controller. We have purchased Acronis True Image 2015 and can access backup.

Can we use the clone a disk feature of Acronis True Image 2015 once we have replaced the two disks? (we are also planning on deleting the Raid 0 and configuring a Raid 1 for the two new disks).

Thanks

Boot your computer on the Acronis recovery medium (CD or USB). If ATI booted from that medium can see your RAID as a single volume, then yes, you can clone or backup. I would backup, then change the raid configuration, then restore the image onto the RAID 1 set up.

If the ATI medium sees 2 different disks, then it won't work. You will have to produce a WinPE based recovery medium in this case.
