Can I give TI11 away?

Thread needs solution

I want to buy TI 2010 for myself. But I bought Ti 11 a couple of years ago and wanted to ask if it's a breach of licensing if I give Ti 11 away to someone?

Interesting question.

My thinking (and I could be incorrect) is that so long as it isn't installed on your machine then that would be OK.

After all, there are people here who would have purchased a copy of TI for their children or 'other half', but the account registration would be in their name and Acronis in their licence don't stipulate that the purchaser must install the software only on their property, only that they need a copy and a licence for each machine, if the licence and the installer are only ever on one machine you can't be in breach of their terms and conditions. Assuming they found out of course.

OK, off to do a course on Barrack Room lawyering (er that's a UK saying not a play on presidents names or occupations).

I assume that if Tony bought an upgrade then it would be illegal as you need the serial number from TI11 to install, but if a full version it may be OK.

But I wonder what would happen If the recipient tried to register TI 11?
