Can I just restore Internet Explorer?

Thread needs solution

Hi All
True Image 11 on XPsp3 IE8.
I have a corrupted Internet Explorer and have tried every possible fix to no avail.
Can I use True Image to restore a working IE8? If so which specific files and folders do I select?
Thanks.

Hi John, there is no way to restore IE in isolation. If IE is no longer working properly (how exactly isn't it working anymore?) then its possible other parts of the system may be affected too. You could try and restore the c:/windows/ie8 folder using the recovery manager (F11) or the boot cd and see if that helps. If it were me though, I would either restore the whole system or remove IE8 and reinstall it. You can remove IE in Windows Components within the 'Add or Remove Programs' settings program and then download/install it again from the microsoft web site.

IE can get wonky, although it's increbily more stable than much earlier version. The best way to "restore" if IE is to do another installation of it. If that doesn't help, then you might need to restore more, and My next step would be a System Restore via windows or an ATI full restore if I had a recent backup.
