Can I Restore to a single HDD if BackUp from a RAID configuation

Thread needs solution

I have a 300GB volume in a 4 disk RAID10 array. I would like to copy the array volume to a single HDD. Is it possible to restore a backup created on a RAID array to a single HDD?

I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Can someone please comment on this request or  point me in a new direction.

Thank you.

Assuming your raid is hardware based (Not software Raid), yes you can.   I had a RAID 1 hardware environment that I restored to a single non-raid disk.  Worked.

Yes, my RAID controller is an Intel ICHR9.  I will restore the backup to a single hard drive and see if it works.  I will let you (the group) know.  Thank you.

Chuck, did it work?  I have the same issue, RAID0 disks that I wish to clone to a single drive, will it boot after I do this (and change config in bios)?

Thanks...

Hello Ken.  No, unfortunately, it did not work.  I was very hopeful especially when Storageman said that his RAID 1 did work.  I do not believe that this was an Acronis issue.  This was a very old RAID hardware controller.  Had it been 1 generation newer, I could have accomplished what I was ultimately trying to do with the controller itself.

I finally have given up on this and the customer is getting a new server.

Thanks for the info Chuck...  My machine is about 6 years old and I decided to to use RAID0 on an Asus MB.  I noticed that when I used Acronis, and pointed to the target drive (new 2 gig) it said that the target drive was configured as RAID, which it is not.  Maybe it is because I am inserting the new drive into the same machine (as the RAID0) into a seperate drive bay....  Just concerned that the target drive will be corrupted in terms of the bootablilty after I image the RAID (source) to it....  Your thoughts?  Again, thanks.
