Can I run Acronis TIH and Windows 7 Backup?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am using TIH 2009 but it doesn't backup my Windows 7 Live mail account. I see that even TIH 2011 doesn't backup windows live mail (well it does if one uses live mail from the 2009 windows live essentials pack but not if one uses live mail from the 2011 live essentials pack - which I do). My TIH 2009 backups are running perfectly.

I assume that the inbuilt backup functionality in Windows 7 Professional would have no problem backing up Windows Live Mail but I am worried that somehow the 2 backup programs will clash (I would obviously set them to run at different times but you never know....).

I just want to fully automate my backups and be sure I am backing up everything I need. At this stage I am still vulnerable on Windows Live Mail if something disaterous happens on the Microsoft server.

Win 7 backup is just like ATI. You can backup the system image and you can back up the documents and settings.

Win 7 system image backup include personal files C:\users\, according to Windows Help. I am assuming this includes the C:\Users\ThisUser\Appdata\ folder... If you have moved your Windows Live folders outside of the AppData folder, they may not be backed up. ATI disk and partition backup included everything in the corresponding partitions/disks. So that will include Windows Live Mail. You can restore a specific folder from a disk and partition backup using the recovery CD.

Win 7 file backup allows you to choose which libraries and folders to backup. You can choose to include the AppData folder or any folder where your Live Mail folders are. You can do the same with ATI.

With ATI you also have an easy to use email backup, but it doesn't work sometimes. Heck, it doesn' work at all on my system.

The programs will not clash. I am using both everyday.
