I want to change out my hard drive to a new larger capacity. I have tried reading the directions from acronis and have 2014. can anyone give me clear step by step in more layman's terms?
I have a backup on an external drive and made a boot able dvd and put in the new drive and my computer does not boot to the dvd.
I must be doing this all wrong, Can I even use Acronis to change to a new hard drive?

Which version of Windows?

Is this laptop or desktop?

On bootup with the DVD inserted, have you gone intot the BIOS SETTINGS and told the computer to boot into the DVD?

My signature link #3 below and then item 2 inside that link is a guide on restoring--providing your backup is one that includes ALL PARTITIONS
as illustrated in my signature item 2A.

I have Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit on a Desktop workstation. Yes on bootup I go into Bios and select DVD drive. I will check your link Thanks

Also note when booting up into the TI REcovery CD, you need to be present during the bootup.

When the program reaches the selecion menu, you only have about 30 seconds to make your selection, otherwise the program will boot into Windows without your knowing it ever reached the TI Recovery Menu.
