Can it be done--make partial backup of boot partition to a smaller drive

I have Acronis True image home 2009. I have a 1T drive that I stored a lot of music and video on in one of my computers. The Windows operating system is set just the way I want it, all devices work. I want to use this hard drive for video and music content only and want to make a bootable image of just the basic system without all the music and video content on a smaller drive.

i tried installing Win 7 directly to the new smaller drive, but for some reason i cannot find all the drivers I found last year and portions of the system do not work, like the sound card. The Win7 install on the 1T drive is fully functional and I just want to copy it to a SMALLER hard drive -- how do I do it?
