Can True Image Home ver 11 image a Win7 disk?

Thread needs solution

I'm having some issues booting with the ver 2010 Recovery CD on a new PC that is running Win7 x64. I also have a valid license for True Image ver 11. I understand ver 2010 is qualfieid for Win7 but does anyone think I could use version 11 to boot from the Recovery CD and take a complete image of my disk and then restore that image to a new drive? When booting from the Recovery CD, isn't True Image OS independant in that it can image ANY disk to other disk?

I'm just looking for a way to give myself a bare metal restore backup of the system until the ver 2010 Recovery CD issues get resolved.

Thanks. - John

Note I am note speaking from experience because I do not have Win 7.

So, in my opinion, it is highly probable that if you took a "disk" option backup which includes everything on the disk (all partitions), you could then perform a "disk" option restore which would restore everything.

Performing a "disk" restore, TrueImage should put your system back the way it was at time of the original backup.

You really will not know until you test it. Boot from the v11 REscue CD and perform a Disk option backup.

Then do the disk option restore to a test disk and check the results.

If you have a dual boot system, my remarks above are not totally applicable.

Whilst version 11 rescue CD should be able to image and restore your drive, as GroverH stated, I found that the version 11 CD couldnt see my Sata drives and this is on a machine some 18 months old. You will probably find that the version 11 CD will not have the Linux drivers for your hardware.

You do not state what the problem is with the 2010 CD, if you report here someone may be able to help, for instance have you tried the various commands listed in Problems with Acronis bootable rescue media or Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. at this link  forum.acronis.com/forum/2995

Have you downloaded the latest build of TI 2010 from your account? also you could download the iso file for the special rescue disk and burn that, it may have drivers that support your new hardware.

Another alternative is to build a WinPE disk see the stickies at the top of this forum or from using Mustangs Winbuilder.
