Thread needs solution

Can you schedule a image clone onto another HD

i currently have True image 10 Home (the old one)

It would be very handy to clone an image of a HD in the middle of the night, do you know if this is possible either with the old version (mine) or the new one.

thanks

Cloning (making a target hdisk look just ike a source hdisk) requires a reboot into linux so I don't think the process can be fully automated. I haven't used cloing in so long, I could be amiss about the feature additons in the latest version of ATI.

Nonetheless, you would in most cases be better off doing a scheduled backup of your hdisk (My Computer) backup. A backup merely creates a file on your target disk that contains allthe info.content of your source. You could then have multiple backups stored on the target drive, which can come in very handy such as when you discover that your software has gone wonky and it turns out it's been wonky since before your last backup. Also it gives you more insurance that you can restore in the rare event a byte goes bad in the last backup.

The only advantage of Cloning over doing backups is that the restore process is slightly simpler and is faster. But restoring is something one does, hopefully, very rarely so it's hard for that advantage to offset the disadvantages.

Appreciate your reply.

I was after cloning because the HD has just died (corrupted). I have a backup, but it takes along time restoring about 5 million files (its a INVU archive system. Auto cloning is a very handy solution. Maybe a 2 disc raid (mirroring) would be better really,

so if one drive dies, chuck a new drive in and it rebuilds
