Cannot access USB drives from windows

Thread needs solution

I am using Windows 7x64 Ultimate and after installing ATIH 2012, I cannot access my USB2 thumb drives. I restored my system prior to the install and the drives work fine, so I am certian ATIH 2012 is the problem. I tried using snapapi_virtualdisk.zip and the SnapAPISetup.msi program wont even install. I am using version 6131.
I also have 2 Fantom 2TB external USB3 drives but I didn't dare try to access them after the issues with the Thumb drives.

I don't have a problem with applying patches since I am a developer myself but the use of USB thumb drives are not exactly rare so I would expect to see a patch or a workaround that actually works real soon.

Did you try to change the startup of the NonStop Backup service to Manual after having stopped it?

Windows sees the drive but it takes awhile and there are errors in the windows log file about the drive having errors which is not true.

I am also using ATIH 2012 and am having problems with some USB memory sticks, I upgraded from ATIH 2011 to 2012 and am on 6154 with Windows 7 64bit Home Premium SP1.
Some memory sticks are OK, but others take over a minute to be recognised and one demanded to be formatted until I managed to read it on the XP system that I have.
I have seen the various posts about updating snapapi and have tried to do the update, using the files in 26062 and also the snapapi_685 variant; but it always fails as it is unable to complete.
It appears to be trying to update program files(x86)/acronis/snapapi; however, the snapapi files are actually in program files(x86)/common files/acronis/snapapi on my system
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a resolution to it?

Same problem here with XP SP3. If the Non Stop Backup Service is stopped, the Trueimage GUI will not startup....until you go back to services and restart Non Stop Backup. How about an update to 2012 that removes Non Stop Backup and adds user configurable Backup?

I have just restored my machine which is XP and Acronise 10 based.  Now Acronis will not recognise the back up USB drive.  It thinks that is in use by something else or has bad sectors????

Tried to load Acronis 2016 but it thinks that the driver is invalid.  Where do you start with all this.  Man this is hard work going around in circles.

Grant,

This thread is approx 3.5 years old.  I would suggest starting a new topic to avoid piggybacking on an issue that is similar but different from the issues you are experiencing.  Also, you'll need to pick a platform to request assistance with.

Either v10 or 2016.  Thanks
