Cannot back up certain directories in Win 7

Why can I not back up the C:\Users\myname\AppData or any of its subdirectories? AppData doesn't even show in ATIH's directory tree and I can find no way for the program to access files that are housed in its subdirectories. I am particularly interested in the Roaming subdirectory.

Windows Explorer doesn't show them either, but I am able to get into AppData and all its subdirectories using Total Commander, the former WinCommander. Is there another route to getting ATIH 2012 to backup files in that location?

Am running Win7 x64 with current updates, and ATIH 2012 Update 1.
