Cannot boot with the #7160 bootable cd

Thread needs solution

Toshiba Satellite L305 Laptop.

First thing I find odd is that I can boot from the original cd that came with my product. I just wanted the latest build on cd.

I have downloaded the iso file twice and used the isorecorder and the toshiba disc creator(image) to build the cd.

The computer boots to the cd and gives the option of the Acronis Full product and boot to windows. The logo hangs for about 20 seconds after selecting full product with the acronis logo and the the monitor goes blank and the cd stops spinning. At this time I have no option other than the power button.

Any ideas? It is like it is looking for a file and does not find it. At least my original cd still starts acronis but I would like to figure this out. You never know when the original cd will die.

If the original CD works, you can create an ISO out of it for archival purposes.

It happens that Acronis updates the Linux version in such a way that it loses compatibility with previously supported hardware. This can be sorted out in either of 2 ways:
- contact Acronis support,
- buy the Plus Pack and create a WinPE-based recovery CD. That version uses Windows drivers, and it is very rare that you have hardware issues with it.

Charles,
You might try again but this time allow more time for the bootup. I have seen postings about booting into the CD takes longer on some computers. One reason for the spinning stopped is that TI works from a Ram drive and after the computer has booted, the CD can be removed--if not needed for other things.

Thanks Grover. I will give that a try. I have discovered that it boots fine on my new 64 bit i5 gateway desktop. The laptop is the one with Home 2010 installed but at least I can now eliminate the cd.

I wanted the 7160 version cd because I have upgraded to it on my computer.

I let it sit an hour and nothing. I am wondering if the driver corrupted when I restored the system back to factory default. At first I could not see the dvd drive and had to delete the upper and lower limits from the registry. Oh well if I can't get it to work I might try another solution. Thanks for your imput Grover!

If you believe your Acronis install might be bad, you can restart the install program again and once the install is restarted, you will be given a repair option which will re-install again overtop your existing install and then make a new recovery CD.
