cannot get system to boot from CD

Thread needs solution

Just received a new Dell 380 workstation 32bit with windows 7 on it. had to upgrade to true image home 2010 which I did. setup the computer did a recovery backup to an external hard drive and now I am trying to boot from both the acronis and ISOLINUX boot CD's and it gives me "no raid disk". Anyone have any good ideas for making this boot properly?

Brad,
Are you sure that it isn't booting properly. I see the "no raid disk" regularly and take it as an informational message because I have a raid controller but not using any type of raid configurations. To me, this message is the norm.

If that is a regular message then my problem must be futher. The last thing I see is the Acronis screen, then the no raid message then I think it flashes up the acronis startup screen like it is going to work and then reboots the computer.

Hello all,

Thank you very much for your posts.

GroverH,

Thank you for your assistance!

Brad,

We are currently working to get this issue resolved. We have a long discussion going in another sub-forum related to our corporate products. This issue also appears with our corporate recovery disks. You can follow that discussion here.

As soon as the Acronis recovery disk GUI loads, the computer reboots. We are still investigating this issue, but it appears that is caused by the Dell recovery partition. Several forum users tried a workaround, which helped. If you strongly feel that you do not need the Dell recovery partition, you can delete it using a Windows installation disk, after that the recovery CD will work without any problems.

Please let me know if you require additional assistance.

Thank you.
