Cannot log into Windows 7 after partial restore of data files

Thread needs solution

I did a full backup before upgrading my motherboard and hard drive. I installed Windows 7 and set up my user account the same way I had it before. I re-installed Acronis True Image 2015. I then did a select restore from my external hard drive. The restore involved only my folders, files, Public folders and files. No Windows files were restore since I just re-installed Windows 7 and intended to re-install all of my software.

At the end of the selected restore, Acronis asked to reboot. I clicked OK. Acronis did some updating to my register then rebooted the PC. When my Windows login came up with the User ID I had created during the Windows install, I entered my usual password. The screen went blank, then it came back saying, "Logging off" and then it went back to the login screen waiting for me to enter my password again. I cannot get past this point of logging in. I keep going in circles.

Why did Acronis update my registry when I did not restore any Windows files, only data files? How can I fix this problem?

Mmmm, would say that your user profile has become corrupted. Could be that it is a result of the new account you created. See the link below for some methods to resolve the issue.
